How Cherished Cherubs Babysitting has grown from a small thought…
It has been six months since the launch of our brand new logo and look for Cherished Cherubs Babysitting, oh my how have we changed over the years.
Cherished Cherubs was never born to be a business initially. Working full time and a single mum, I knew how hard it was to go out to meet people, and more importantly get some time out. So I would offer to have other children at home with mine so parents could go out. A couple of extra children with mine were never any extra work, it was actually more fun, and I knew how much these parents appreciated their time to be an adult.
After doing that, word got out and demand grew. It was then that Cherished Cherubs was born. After registering the business, a little advert went in the paper and two young university ladies were interviewed and we were underway.
Running the childcare centres continued and the babysitting service continued to grow. So much so that it ended up being a choice. Continue to work full time and have a regular income, or take a chance on my own business with limited income. The choice wasn’t actually about the money. It was about my children.
I had 3 children in school and day-care. I wanted to be there when they came home from school, go to their sports day and take them to their appointments. I wanted to be there for them. I also wanted to continue fostering children and the babysitting agency allowed me the flexibility to do this.
Running your own business comes with its own challenges, so the road wasn’t always easy. I was recruiting, training, coordinating and doing all the administration. I hired someone to help with the recruiting, and now I have a great team with three other mums to help maintain our business. With their support, we have grown and developed in leaps and bounds, always keeping the focus on the children and families.
We have worked with supervised contact and we have worked with transport for government agencies. The work we have done has been rewarding, as it has helped so many people. The decisions to discontinue these services were about my family. By working so much with other families, meant not having enough time to be with my own family.
So now we are back to the start, focused 100% on babysitting and supporting families in a way that gives them the confidence to know their children are happy and in safe hands. Visit us at cherishedcherubs.com.au
