This includes interactions such as working in childcare, studying teaching, volunteering at kids’ camps, babysitting for family and friends, or the most relevant experience of all, being a hands-on mum.
Plus, formal requirements such as holding a current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance are mandatory. We expect that all carers hold their drivers’ licence and have a vehicle, so parents do not have to worry about the babysitter getting to or from jobs. Cherished Cherubs also ask our babysitters to hold or work toward obtaining their Senior First Aid certificate.
These things alone do not guarantee the potential babysitter a place on the Cherished Cherubs team. We have a good chat with them on the phone and meet face to face to find out more about them personally, their values, their interactions, skills, and initiative. If they make it past this process, we then put them through our professional training program made up of a series of online modules regarding our policies and standards, making them aware of our expectations and systems, as well as covering various positive based strategies when dealing with children’s behaviour.
Once the agency decides a babysitter is suitable, they are added to our active babysitter database and are continually monitored through feedback from parents and ensuring their licences are renewed.
