Yucky nappies, tantrum kids, vegemite on white couches, who signs up for this type of job?
Julie from Cherished Cherubs Babysitting has written what her typical afternoon and evening looks like when she is asked to babysit with the West Australian based agency.
It’s 2:30pm, time to pick up my three young boys from school, then supervise homework, snacks etc – the usual chaos with three energetic boys.
I start preparing the evening meal shortly before my husband is home from work. We all sit down for a family meal together, then I am off to my babysitting job, leaving the dishes to Dad – Bonus!
I arrive at my regular client’s home and am greeted with big smiles from her two gorgeous boys. I have been caring for this family for some time and am familiar with their routines and rules. Because my boys are older now, I don’ get to play on the floor with Lego, and boy’s toys like I used to and read them bed-time stories. This is one of the reasons why I love being a babysitter, I get to enjoy other children, like I used to with my own.
Once the kids are tucked up in bed and sound asleep, I do a quick tidy up of the toys etc– then I relax in front of the TV watching a show or movie of my choice! Usually something girlie for a change. The parents return refreshed and happy from having a well-deserved night out knowing their little ones are well looked after and a tidy home. I leave for home, feeling really happy knowing I have helped this family’s well-being.
